Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO)

Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSOs) are student-led organizations that provide opportunities for students to develop leadership, teamwork, and career-related skills in area such as business, agriculture, technology, or health/human services. CTSOs can offer a variety of activities, including competitions, conferences, community service projects, networking events, academic skill development and practical work experiences. These programs are considered intra-curricular or co-curricular because of how they are directly embedded into our curriculum and courses. 

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is the perfect organization for students interested in business, finance, and entrepreneurship. Whether you're looking to improve your public speaking, master management skills, or explore career options in business, FBLA offers opportunities through competitions, conferences, and real-world projects. Members gain valuable experience that sets them up for success in college and beyond, all while connecting with peers and professionals who share similar interests. FBLA is an important element to FCPS’s Business Education programs.

Future Farmers of America (FFA)

FFA is one of the most established CTSO’s in FCPS. This program is about leadership, career growth, and personal development. Through FFA, students gain hands-on experience in agriculture, animal science, mechanics, and environmental sustainability, preparing them for a wide range of careers in the industry. FFA members participate in leadership workshops, community service, and competitions that enhance their skills and boost their confidence. It's a chance to make lifelong connections, build a resume, and become a leader in school and community. FFA is an essential part of FCPS’s robust Agriculture Education Program.

From automotive repair to healthcare and culinary arts, SkillsUSA provides hands-on training and competition that mirrors real-world challenges. By joining, students can earn industry certifications, learn valuable career-ready skills, and stand out to future employers. With national competitions and leadership conferences, SkillsUSA members develop both their technical abilities and personal confidence. SkillsUSA is an essential element to the highly technical, diverse programs at the Career and Technology Center.

Educators Rising

Educators Rising is for students who are passionate about teaching and making a difference in the lives of others. This program helps students explore careers in education, providing opportunities to develop teaching skills through internships, classroom experiences, and competitions. By joining Educators Rising, students can gain insight into what it takes to become an educator, build leadership skills, and create a pathway to inspire future generations. It's a great first step toward a rewarding career in education. Educators Rising is an essential component to our Child Development programs and the Teacher Academy of Maryland.
