Appeal and Hearing Procedures
Parents, students, employees, and interested parties have a right to ask the Board of Education to review certain decisions or recommendations of the Superintendent. For example, decisions regarding the extended suspension or expulsion of a student or decisions on a controversy or dispute.
Board Policy 105 identifies the process to file an appeal with the Board of Education or the Superintendent.

Appeal to the Board of Education
Timeline to appeal is within 30 calendar days of the Superintendent's decision.
- Decision of an FCPS administrator or supervisor
Appeal to the Superintendent
Timeline to appeal is within 30 calendar days of the administrator's or supervisor's decision.
- Student discipline
Appeal a student suspension 10 days or less (Superintendent level, form 4-205(c))
Appeal a student suspension of more than 10 days or student expulsion (Board level, form 7-305(c))
Timeline to appeal to the Superintendent is within 10 calendar days of the Supervisor of Student Services' decision.
Timeline to appeal to Board of Education is within 10 calendar days of the Superintendent's decision.

Timeline to appeal to the Director of Student Services is within 10 calendar days of the Pupil Personnel Worker’s decision. The Director of Student Services serves as the Superintendent Designee.
