The Family Life Advisory Committee (FLAC) will meet on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. in the Board Room of Frederick County Public Schools, 191 S. East Street, Frederick, MD,  21701. Meeting materials have been posted at the following link: https://www.boarddocs.com/mabe/fcps/Board.nsf/Public

Before proposed lessons or curriculum materials relative to Family Life and Human Sexuality standards are used in classrooms, staff present them to the FLAC for review and also post materials publicly for review and feedback. 

At the May 9 meeting, the committee will review and discuss the following materials, which align to the health education curriculum for the new high school course, Health II:

Resources for Health II Consideration:

• TED-Ed: How do contraceptives work?
• Sex Trafficking: What is it?
• Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity

Additional agenda items for the May 9 FLAC meeting, including an opportunity for public comment, are included in the agenda linked here. Please note that for both elementary and secondary health education related to Family Life and Human Sexuality standards, no new lesson materials are introduced in classrooms until approved by FLAC.  Additional information about Pre-K-12 health education and opportunities for public engagement are available through the Family Life Advisory Council.
