Dr. Jamie Aliveto is the Chief of Schools & Accountability. Dr. Aliveto began working with FCPS in 1997 and was appointed to her current role in August 2019. Dr. Aliveto oversees the:
Department of System Accountability and School Administration
Education: Dr. Aliveto earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1995 and Master of Science degree in Special Education in 1997, both at West Virginia University. She earned her Administrator I and II certificate after completing a program at Hood College in 2004. Dr. Aliveto completed a doctoral program in educational leadership at Shippensburg and Millersville University with a focus on executive leadership in 2018 and earned her Superintendent’s endorsement in the state of Maryland in 2019.
Background: Dr. Aliveto began her career as a special education teacher in 1997. She later served as assistant principal at Brunswick Middle School from 2004 to 2008 and then Walkersville Middle School from 2008 to 2010. In 2010, Dr. Aliveto was promoted to principal of Walkersville Middle School and then in 2013, was appointed to the position of Supervisor of Student Achievement for FCPS. Dr. Aliveto also served as the Director of System Accountability and School Improvement for FCPS from 2015-2019.
Leadership Belief: I believe in the power of collective capacity. A primary objective is to cultivate a professional learning community of strong leaders working together to ensure high quality instruction in every classroom, positive belief-based school cultures and ultimately strong achievement for each and every student. Removing barriers and working towards a cohesive, unified organizational support structure is an imperative in the department. Overseeing all school administrators, I have researched the correlates of effective principal leadership and seek to work with my team to foster the dispositional leadership that undergirds the expectations of the national leadership standards. My purpose to impact statement is Dream Big, Believe in the Heart, Challenge the Status Quo and Enjoy the Journey.
