Chief Academic Officer

Dr. Kevin CuppettDr. Kevin Cuppett is the Chief Academic Officer and was appointed in July 2014. Dr. Cuppett oversees:

Education: Dr. Cuppett earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Art Education in 1992 from Shepherd University and and Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership in 2002 from Hood College. He went on to earn a Doctorate in Education Administration and Policy Studies from The George Washington University in 2014.  

Background: Prior to taking on his current role, Dr. Cuppett served as the principal of both Carroll Manor Elementary (2009-2014) and Green Valley Elementary (2005-2009). Prior to that he was an assistant principal at Lincoln Elementary and Twin Ridge Elementary. He began his career in the visual arts teaching at the high school, middle school and elementary school levels both in FCPS and in Washington County Public Schools.

Leadership Belief: I believe in the empowerment of teachers, students and families and building the mindset, structures and resources to make that empowerment possible. This work was evident in major initiatives in FCPS including the upgrading of the English Learners program, the diffusing of innovation practices of personalization and blended learning, the modernization of learning tools for students, and the building of the Vanguard Teacher Program.
