Background
FCPS will begin a feasibility study in January 2019 to determine the best way to modernize and expand Brunswick High School. The purpose of the study is to identify school renovation needs, additional space needs, options for meeting the needs, and estimated costs for each option. The study is expected to take five months and there will be opportunities for community members to participate throughout the study.
During the feasibility study, staff will work with a consultant to consider several options:
- Renovating the existing school, or
- Additions and renovation.
This study is the first step in the process to modernize and expand Brunswick High School. The feasibility study will start in January 2019 and conclude in June 2019. In order to determine the best way to modernize Brunswick High School, the team will consider the existing building’s physical condition, the building’s ability to provide space for our current educational programs and the community’s vision for the school. The architecture consultant team will provide conceptual layouts for all the options considered and the community will have opportunities to provide feedback.

Staff Project Progress Meetings
Regularly scheduled feasibility study meetings will be held every other week in the FCPS Central Office at 191 S. East Street in Frederick starting in January 2019. Meetings are open to the public. Sign language interpreting or English language interpreting can be provided by contacting Holly Nelson at least 10 business days in advance of each meeting at 301-644-5026 or BrunswickHS.Study@fcps.org.
