Frederick County Public Schools is planning a redistricting study in preparation for the opening of the new Elementary School  #41 for the 2026-27 school year.

The redistricting study encompasses a total of eight schools, including five elementary schools and three middle schools:

Elementary Schools:

  • Blue Heron Elementary
  • Deer Crossing Elementary
  • New Market Elementary
  • Oakdale Elementary
  • Spring Ridge Elementary

 Middle Schools:

  • Governor Thomas Johnson Middle
  • New Market Middle
  • Oakdale Middle

The primary goal of this redistricting effort is to create an attendance area for the new Elementary School #41 while relieving capacity at Oakdale Elementary School. This study also includes middle school attendance areas to establish feeder patterns with the new elementary boundaries and to improve balanced capacity across all middle schools.

The redistricting study will be led by consultant WXY and FCPS facilities planning staff. FCPS will collect data, evaluate options, engage the school communities and present an option to the Board of Education in accordance with Board of Education Policy 200.
