Background
Elementary School #41 (ES #41) will be built at the intersection of Mussetter Road and Whiterose Drive near Route 144. The design accommodates a state-rated capacity of 882 students and has been adapted to meet the sloping site conditions using an FCPS prototype school design.
ES #41 is being designed by SEI Architects and the construction manager overseeing the project is Whiting Turner. ES #41 will:
- Be designed for energy efficiency that meets the USGBC LEED Silver design requirements
- Meet all current local building codes of the authorities having jurisdiction and the FCPS Educational Program Specifications.
- The new school Design/Construction will be performed in accordance with the State of Maryland IAC / PSCP guidelines and DGS requirements.
Timeline
The Design of this Project began in September 2024 and will continue through October 2025. Construction will begin in late spring/early summer 2025 as trade bid packages are approved using a phased implementation approach. The new school is expected to open for students in August 2026.
