VES-BES Redistricting StudyValley Elementary and Brunswick Elementary Redistricting Study

The Brunswick Elementary (BES) replacement school was completed in the fall of 2023, increasing its capacity by 217 seats. The Valley Elementary (VES) replacement school is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025 with an increase in capacity of 246 seats. As of September 30, 2023, BES is operating at 106% of its state rated capacity (SRC). It is projected to be at 109% of its SRC in September 2024 and to remain over capacity for the next 10 years. VES has a current enrollment of 101% of its SRC. When the VES replacement school opens in 2025, it is projected that VES will be at 73% of its capacity with approximately 220 available seats. The additional available seats at VES will allow FCPS to balance enrollments between the two elementary schools. Both schools currently feed to Brunswick Middle and Brunswick High. This study will not impact the middle or high school attendance areas.

At the February 12, 2025 Board of Education meeting, the Board of Education voted to approve adjusted attendance areas for Valley and Brunswick elementary schools as set forth in the VES-BES Redistricting Study. These changes will go into effect for the 2025-2026 school year.
