The Board of Education of Frederick County approved the new Waverley Elementary School (WAVES) to be a 1019 seat building, and a contract has been awarded to GWWO architects for the design. Design meetings began on October 16th and occur every other Tuesday at FCPS Central Office. These meetings are open to the public, however, should you like to attend, please contact Brian Staiger (see contact information to the right) to coordinate. The new WES Replacement will be an energy efficient building that meets, at a minimum, USGBC LEED Silver certification requirements, current local building codes of the authorities having jurisdiction and the educational program specifications. The Design is to be performed in accordance with the State of Maryland IAC / PSCP guidelines and DGS requirements. The design is currently in the “Design Development” phase based on Board of Education approvals. The current documents are being sent to the State for review and once approved, design moves to the third and final leg of the process.
